If you edited an image, i.e in CaptureOne and change the rating or color labels then a XMP file will be written or updated.
When you are back in fotoARRAY press F2 so the changes will be loaded. Then you can see the changes in rating and color in fotoARRAY. This also works with keywords, but only if fotoARRAY can detect a change in the XMP file. If it cannot detect a change, it will not update the database.
This is because the way fotoARRAY stores keywords in a tree structure, while other programs often do not. They may support hierarchical keywords, but the implementation is often limited in a way that parent nodes are implicitly always aktive, too. With fotoARRAY the name of a keyword can be the same if it is located in a different branch.
